Saratoga's Hakone Gardens will host a workshop, "Decorative Gourds" on April 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The instructor, San Jose artist Jennifer Wool, will provide each participant with a large gourd. Catered by Pat Smith's Extravaganza of Saratoga, the menu consists of mimosas, appetizers, entree (choice of two), vegetable accompaniments, dessert and coffee or tea. Cost is $28 per person. Reservations are required. For more information, call 408.961.5823. Proceeds of the luncheon benefit restorations and upkeep of the villa and its expansive grounds.
