Argonaut holds annual read-in
Various community members will spend the morning of April 18 visiting classrooms and reading their favorite stories to Argonaut Elementary students.
The Argonaut PTA has held its Community Read-in each year for the past several years to show children that all kinds of people--not just teachers and parents--love to read.
Readers this year include retired Argonaut kindergarten teacher Nancy Bear; professional clown Linda Levine; pediatrician Dr. David Trager; Saratoga librarian Diana Colby; Keith Banks, owner of Studio 10 dance school in Cupertino; and NASA engineer Yvonne Russell.
Christy Spencer and Justin Buzzard, youth associates at Saratoga Presbyterian Church, will be readers along with Deputy Estella Frontella from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, and Les Landin, the 2000 Saratoga Citizen of the Year.
Saratoga orthodontist Dr. Joanne Low and Saratoga firefighter Bill Morrison will join the group in reading their favorite stories, along with community members Carolyn Prestwich and Bruce McFarling; Frances Ota, the grandmother of one of the students; Saratoga Union School District Superintendent Mary Gardner; Saratoga High Principal Dr. Kevin Skelly; Saratoga High students; and Argonaut Principal Sue Brooks and administrative assistant Claudia Fortson.
