Bank reports record earnings

Saratoga Bancorp., parent company for Saratoga National Bank, released a financial report for the quarter ending March 31. Assets are $103,396,000, up 22 percent from $84,627,000 in March 1995.

Deposits increased 13 percent to $78,364,000, compared to $69,605,000 in 1995.

Net loans outstanding were $35,508,000, an increase of 8 percent from $32,839,000 for the same period in 1995.

Net income was $202,000 or 18 cents per share, up 4 percent from $194,000 on March 31, 1995.

The company announced an .075 per share cash dividend effective for shareholders of record as of Feb. 23, 1996. This represents a 50 percent increase from the last dividend of .05 per share, paid on Sept. 29, 1995.

Saratoga National Bank, 1200 Saratoga-Sunnyvale Rd., operates offices in Saratoga, Los Gatos and San Jose.

Organic Gardening Day planned

Yamagami's Nursery, 1361 S. De Anza Blvd., plans an Organic Gardening Day on Saturday, April 20. Three organic experts will be at the nursery from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Gisele Schoniger of Whitney Farms will discuss the benefits of organic fertilizers and composting.

Ruth Troetschler and Janet Hoffmann, coauthors of Rebugging Your Home & Garden, will be on hand to sign copies of their book and to answer questions about organic gardening and pest control.

Viaggio Ristorante donates dinner

Viaggio Ristorante of Saratoga donated dinner for 60 homeless men and women at the Julian Street Inn recently. Chef Rick Epster and assistant Chef Brad Kraten prepared a pasta dish. Each month, one of the Saratoga restaurants donates a dinner as part of an ongoing Saratoga Presbyterian Church program to feed the homeless.
