    Sheriff's Report

    Theft by Credit Card--April 6, 12 p.m. on Austin Way. The victim received harassing phone calls from a former friend for almost a year. The victim is afraid the former friend will start calling him again, now that he is home from drug rehab.

    Theft by Credit Card--April 5, 11 p.m. on Vickery Lane. The suspect got the victim's credit card number and has been making various purchases.

    Evading/Reckless Driving--April 5, 1:28 a.m. on Highway 85/Saratoga Avenue. The officer was on a routine patrol and saw a motorcycle speeding. When the officer tried to make an enforcement stop on Saratoga Avenue, the suspect failed to yield and sped northbound on Saratoga Avenue, going up to 95 mph and running about five red lights. The suspect proceeded northbound on Highway 280, once again going up to 95 to 110 mph, until finally yielding at Highway 280 and Page Mill Road.

    Petty Theft--April 4, 8:35 p.m. on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. Store security saw the suspect put rolls of film and two tubes of tennis balls into his jacket. The suspect then left the store without buying the items.

    Found Property for Safekeeping--April 4, 6 p.m. on Congress Springs Road. The involved party was in an accident that day on Congress Springs Road at Springer Lane. The officer found a wristwatch on the vehicle, entered it into sheriff's property for safekeeping and called the involved party, who was at Valley Medical Center, to let him know. The involved party will claim the watch when he is released.

    Burglary at Supermarket--April 4, 5:20 p.m. on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. The suspect entered Safeway carrying a large black purse that contained nothing but a few receipts and a dollar bill. She went to the alcohol aisle, put four bottles of wine in her purse, including one bottle of Kenwood Cabernet Sauvignon valued at $66.99, and left the store. Security stopped her outside and took her back into the store, where she started to have respiratory distress. She was transported to Valley Medical Center, cleared and then booked into the county jail.

    Grand Theft--April 3, 10:05 p.m. on Glen Brae Drive. Between 8:25 p.m. and 9:25 p.m., an unknown suspect entered the victim's unlocked vehicle and took a 3Com Palm Pilot computer and a brown leather briefcase that contained a birth certificate, a passport and various other personal items. According to the victim, the total value of the items taken is about $450.

    Petty Theft--April 3, 9:25 p.m. on Guava Court. The suspect entered the victim's unlocked vehicle and took a Palm Pilot daily planner, valued at $300, and two checkbooks.

    Petty Theft--April 3, 4 p.m. on Herriman Avenue. An unknown suspect entered the victim's unlocked vehicle and stole cash and a credit card, valued at $180.

    Residential Burglary--April 3, 12:30 p.m. on Vineyard Lane. The week before, the victim found that her apartment had been burglarized and called the sheriff's office. She then changed the locks on her doors. A week later on April. 2, she went out to lunch with her daughter and her friend. When she returned home, she checked her chest of drawers and found all her good jewelry missing. She says that the total value of the items taken is close to $200,000.
