GGG hosts tour of Madronia
The Saratoga Good Government Group will host a one-hour tour of the historic Madronia Cemetery, located at 14754 Oak St. on April 29. The tour will meet at the entrance gate at 10 a.m.
Willys Peck, Saratoga writer and historian, will lead the tour which is open to the public.
Madronia Cemetery is the city's oldest institution, dating from the 1860s. A Madronia Cemetery Association was established in 1863 and today, there is a cemetery commission, whose members are appointed by the county Board of Supervisors.
According to the Good Government Group, many important citizens are buried in the cemetery so the tour should be interesting to all Saratogans. For additional information, contact Al Roten, GGG President, at 408.252.0131 or al-roten@juno.com.
Saratoga Chamber is seeking its Citizen of the Year
The Saratoga Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for its annual Saratoga Citizen of the Year Award. The application deadline is May 1.
According to the Chamber, there are many fine Saratogans who have given unselfishly to the community that are deserving of the award.

County parks announce ticket vending machines
On April 3, automated ticket vending machines were introduced in 13 Santa Clara County parks to provide a faster, easier way for park visitors to pay vehicle entry fees, camping and boating fees and to purchase annual Venture passes, according to the county's parks and recreation department.
Vending machines are in the parking lots of the following parks: Anderson Lake Park, Calero Park, Coyote Lake Park, Hellyer Park, Ed Levin Park, Lexington Reservoir, Los Gatos Creek Park, Mt. Madonna Park, Sanborn Park, Santa Teresa Park, Stevens Creek Park, Uvas Canyon Park and Vasona Lake Park.
