The Rev. Keith Potter will take over the pulpit at Saratoga Federated Church.
The Saratoga Federated Church finds its new senior pastor
Year-long search ends as the church welcomes Greg Ogden's replacement
After a year-long search for just the right person to fill a vacancy in the pulpit, the Saratoga Federated Church has filled the niche of senior pastor with Keith Potter, who had previously served as senior pastor at Paradise Alliance Church in Paradise, Calif. Potter replaces the church's former senior pastor, Greg Ogden, who left in January 1998 to be a professor at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena.
Potter holds a bachelor's degree from Northwest Christian College and a masters of divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary; while pursuing his master's degree, Potter also pastored at First Christian Church, near San Diego. In fact, having served in two California churches before coming to Saratoga, Potter believes he understands the challenges of life in this state, and now, specifically, in the Bay Area.
"The church should be a front-runner in meeting the needs of the community," says Potter, whose favorite part of the ministry is what he describes as preaching the good news. "The message of Jesus Christ is the most exciting news the world will ever hear." Potter also is interested in furthering the next generation of Christian leaders, vibrant churches and the connections between church and community.
Potter and his wife Sue--whom he met while at Northwest Christian College--have two daughters, Kristen and Erin. In his free time, he enjoys coaching Kristen's softball team, going to sporting events, playing golf and basketball, playing the guitar, singing, and writing songs and poems.
