Water Droplet a Winner
Claire Chu, a second-grader at Saratoga's Foothill Elementary School, took first place for her age group in the KTEH-Channel 54 Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest for a story she wrote and illustrated titled 'Willy the Water Droplet.' More than 600 students in grades kindergarten through third competed. Children's book author Eric Hoffman presented Claire with her award, which includes a $500 savings bond and Reader Rabbit computer software, at an April 7 ceremony for the contest winners in the Great Mall of the Bay Area, Milpitas. As a first-place winner in this region, Claire now becomes eligible for a competition in June with other second-grade winners from 118 public television-sponsored contests nationwide.
