Kids' summer sports camps offer a variety of activities

It's never too soon to start making those summer vacation plans, and the same is true for kids who plan to attend sports camps this summer. A few sports camps have already begun registration for the summer season.

Basketball Camp

Basketball Basics, a fundamentals basketball camp for boys and girls in grades 5-8, will be held at Westmont High School this summer under the direction of girls basketball coach Jerry Pettit.

Camps are scheduled for June 28-July 9 for boys and July 12-23 for girls. Camp hours are 8 a.m.-noon for players in grades 5-6, and 1-5 p.m. for players in grades 7-8. The cost is $165. For information, call 371-9185.

Badminton Camp

International badminton player and coach Rose Lei will host a summer badminton camp at Saratoga High School.

The camp will feature divisions for beginners classes (July 6-9, 8:30-10:30 a.m. or 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.); intermediates (Section 1-- June 14-25, 3:30-5:30 p.m.; Section 2-- July 19-30, 8:30-10:30 a.m.) and advanced (Section 1-- June 24-25, 5:30-7:30 p.m.; Section 2-- July 19-30, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. The cost is $80 for the beginners class and $150 for intermediate and advanced.
