Wildlife painter exhibits work at Gallery Saratoga

Throughout May, Gallery Saratoga's featured artist is award-winning wildlife painter Edward Rooks of San Jose. Among his honors is first place for a tiger salamander he painted for the California Fish and Game Department's Native Species Stamp Contest in 1994. His illustrations also appear in numerous biological journals, nature magazines, booklets, newsletters and brochures.

At Gallery Saratoga, Rooks will exhibit acrylic paintings of Californian and South American animals in their natural habitats. A public reception for the artist takes place May 1 from 1 to 4 p.m. Regular hours for the gallery, at 14531 Big Basin Way, Unit 3, are Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
