Saratoga NewsVillage BriefsGallery Saratoga welcomes spring Throughout the month of May, Gallery Saratoga presents a group show titled "Saratoga Spring," in celebration of the long-awaited season. The exhibition features oils, watercolors and pastels as well as photography and various mixed-media works. The gallery is located at 14531 Big Basin Way, Unit 3. Opera San José performs locally For the finale of its 50th anniversary season, the Los Gatos-Saratoga Community Concert Association presents Opera San José on May 3 at 2:30 p.m. in the Los Gatos High School Auditorium, located at 20 High School Court. The ensemble of women and men will sing selections by Mozart, Donizetti, Bizet, Verdi, Puccini and Rossini, including many familiar arias. Their diction coach for singing in French and German is Leah Frey, a retired foreign language teacher at Fisher Middle School in Los Gatos and vice president of the Community Concert Board. Saratoga becomes town of Brigadoon From May 15 to June 13, the Saratoga Drama Group brings to life a mythical Scottish town that appears once every 100 years. Directed by C. Michael Traw and produced by Roberta Savage, the Lerner and Loewe musical Brigadoon includes the songs "Almost Like Being in Love," "Heather on the Hill," "Come to Me, Bend to Me" and "Go Home with Bonnie Jean." Summer camps offered for youth The Saratoga Recreation Department has a variety of day and overnight camps for children and teenagers from June 22 through Aug. 14. Nature, science and adventure day camps for children ages 312 to 8 take place mornings, afternoons or all day at local parks as well as at the Saratoga Community Center.
