The Saratoga boys' tennis team won twice last week, beating Fremont 7-0 in a nonleague match and taking Palo Alto 4-3 in the De Anza Division of the Santa Clara Valley Athletic League.
Peter Rickgauer, David Chin and Brian Doore were winners in each of the two matches for the Falcons.
Rickgauer came through with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles to help the Falcons to the 4-3 victory over the Vikings. Chin won 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4 singles, and Doore pulled out a 5-7, 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 5.
Neil Godbole and Jason Hou teamed for a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles to seal the victory for Saratoga.
The Falcons are 6-3 in the division and 14-5 for the year.
Rickgauer won 6-3, 1-6, 6-2 at No. 3 singles, Chin won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4 singles and Doore was an easy 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 5 singles.
David Albert nailed a 6-3, 6-3 triumph at No. 1 singles, and Ian Modi won 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.
Chung Ho Park and Scott Swanberg combined for a 6-2, 5-7, 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, and Danny Myers and Paul Chen joined forces for a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Falcons net win
David Chao nailed a 15-9, 15-11 win in the boys' No. 1 singles spot to lead the unbeaten Saratoga badminton team to a 13-2 win over Fremont last week.
The win helped the Falcons improve to 11-0 for the year and to 10-0 in the El Camino Division of the SCVAL.
Jason Tong and Brian Chen teamed for a 15-10, 18-17 win in the boys' No. 1 doubles match, and Eva Tang and Weiling Liu won 15-1, 11-15, 15-5 in the girls' No. 1 doubles match.
Joe Yuan and Yvonne Shaw combined for a mixed doubles victory, winning 15-2, 15-6.
Falcons lose two
The Saratoga boys' volleyball team lost two matches last week to slip to 3-3 in the Santa Teresa Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League.
The Falcons lost a tough 15-8, 17-15, 12-15, 15-13 decision to Del Mar before losing in three straight to unbeaten San Jose 15-5, 15-5, 15-6.
Golfers ace Vikings
Junior Jonathan Grellas fired a 6-over-par-42, and sophomore Nicholas Lin was close behind with a 43 to lead the Saratoga golf team to a tight 225-230 win over Lynbrook at the Summit Point Golf Course last week.
Sophomore Jacob Vigial came through with a solid 44 for the Falcons, and Joonsik Maing, a senior, finished at 47.
