Carol Burnett

Carol Burnett, senior vice president of Cornish & Carey Residential Real Estate, was honored by the San Jose YWCA along with other Silicon Valley female executives at the 13th annual Tribute to Women in Industry Awards dinner March 27 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose.
The YWCA recognizes outstanding women throughout the United States every year. The 48 women honored this year were nominated by executives in their companies.
Burnett, the only real estate executive and the only Saratogan honored, was nominated by Cornish & Carey CEO Rodger Rickard.
"Carol's management style and energy have made the Saratoga office the most successful and admired real estate office in Santa Clara County," Rickard said.
Burnett was selected as a female executive who has demonstrated outstanding performance in her commitment and contribution to growth, profitability, motivation and innovation at Cornish and Carey, Rickard said. "In her capacity, Burnett sets an ideal standard as a role model for other women aspiring to executive positions," he added.
John Morgridge of Cisco Systems, co-sponsor of the awards, was keynote speaker and honorary chair.
Burnett, along with other honorees, was asked, "What is the greatest challenge you face as a woman executive?"
"I see my challenges the same as those of any top executive, and those would be having the vision, the creative abilities and the intellectual talent to format and implement the strategies needed today to hold the competitive edge for my company during these times when everything seems to be running at the speed of a race," Burnett said.
All of the women nominated were required to play major roles within their organizations, to be responsible for the annual budget or for financial performance, to have outstanding leadership qualities and to be role models for other women.
Burnett, who has been in real estate since 1974, came to Cornish & Carey in 1978 and was promoted to sales manager in 1986. She is managing broker of the Saratoga office and a longtime Saratoga resident.
