Library friends to study enneagrams
The Friends of the Saratoga Libraries welcomes enneagram lecturer Jane Kroll at its monthly meeting May 6 at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 14103 Saratoga Ave.
Pronounced "any-a-gram," this philosophy of personality types was named for the Greek words ennea, meaning "nine" and grammos, meaning "model." According to the enneagram system, each person has a personality "type" that influences his or her approach to life.
The program will be immediately preceded by the installation of new officers on the Friends board.
YSI plans for a spring night hike
The Youth Science Institute will hold a night hike on May 11 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Sanborn-Skyline County Park in Saratoga. The hike, open to all ages, begins at the YSI Nature Center at 16055 Sanborn Rd.
Led by Nature Center manager Patricia Kucker and instructor Jennifer Snedeker, the hike takes participants through the evening woods and teaches them to use their senses in spotting and identifying nocturnal animals. The cost is $5 per person.
The nonprofit YSI offers science education classes, hikes and day camps to develop children's understanding of and appreciation for the interrelationship between humans and the natural world. Call 408.867.6940 for hike reservations.
