L. Alexander Jacobs, Barbara Smith

Barbara Diane Smith and L. Alexander Jacobs plan a Sept. 8 wedding at Silverado Country Club in Napa.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Janice Zanolini-Sweat and Timothy Smith of Napa. She graduated from California State University, Sacramento in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in child development. She is currently an office assistant in the state Office of Real Estate and Design in Sacramento.

The groom-elect is the son of Barbara Jacobs and the late Melvin Jacobs of Saratoga. A graduate of Saratoga High School in 1990, he earned a bachelor's degree in business/marketing from California State University, Sacramento in 1995. He is currently works for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance as a special agent in Sacramento.

Valerie Wharton, Mark Constant

Mrs. Christopher Wharton of Saratoga announces the engagement of her daughter, Valerie Christine Wharton, to Mark Constant of Ann Arbor, Michigan. The bride-elect is a 1985 graduate of Saratoga High School and of UC-Berkeley, where she obtained a BS in business administration. She holds an MBA from Stanford University and is currently employed as an associate product manager at Del Monte Foods, San Francisco.

Mark, the son of Carl and Maria Constant of Ann Arbor, is a 1991 graduate of Stanford with a BA degree in economics. He is an industry analyst with Merrill Lynch,
San Francisco.

The couple will be married in Stanford Memorial Church June 1.

Kuechler-Flickner

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kuechler of Saratoga announce the engagement of their daughter, Kim Elizabeth, to Blaine Alan Flickner. The bride-to-be is a 1986 graduate of Saratoga High School. She graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and has a master's degree in elementary education from San Jose State University. She currently teaches kindergarten.

Her fiance, the son of Janice and Roger Flickner, graduated from Homestead High School and Cal Poly. He is employed by Johnson Controls as an account manager.

The wedding ceremony will be performed Oct. 19 at West Valley Presbyterian Church in Cupertino. The couple will live in Santa Clara.

Kari Schaefer, Matthew LeMiere

Louise and Bruce Schaefer of Saratoga announced the engagement of their daughter, Kari Louise Schaefer, to Matthew Aaron LeMiere of Los Gatos.

Kari is a 1989 graduate of Saratoga High School and a 1993 graduate of UC-Santa Barbara with a bachelor's degree in business economics. She is employed by Sunrise Technologies Inc. in Fremont as a marketing communications and meeting specialist.

Matthew, the son of Barbara Cohan and Gregg LeMiere of Los Gatos, is a 1989 graduate of Los Gatos High School. He also graduated from UC Santa Barbara and holds a bachelor's degree. He is employed by Silicon Graphics in Mountain View as a sales representative.

The couple plan to be married June 8 in Stanford Memorial Church and to live in Los Gatos.
