National Charity League recognizes local teenagers
The Saratoga-Los Gatos Chapter of the National Charity League honored 20 local teenage girls this March at Senior Presents 2001, an annual gathering which this year took place at the Santa Clara Marriott Hotel.
To be eligible for recognition, girls must meet a required number of volunteer hours in specific philanthropies; they must also participate in League functions.
The class of 2001, many of whom live in Saratoga or vicinity and have been members since middle school, fulfilled their volunteer hours over the years by volunteering for many local organizations and events. These include Our Lady of Fatima Villa, Saratoga Creek clean-up, Sacred Heart Community Center, the Emergency Housing Consortium, the Special Olympics, the Eastfield Ming Quong Strawberry Festival and Relay for Life, a benefit for the American Cancer Society.
The National Charity League is a national mother-daughter organization that emphasizes three areas of growth for young women: philanthropic, social and cultural. For information, visit www.nationalcharityleague.org on the Internet.
