Concert series plans 52nd season
The Los Gatos-Saratoga Community Concert Association is selling tickets and subscriptions for its 52nd season, made up of four performances from October 1999 through May 2000. The second and fourth concerts take place at 2:30 p.m. in the Los Gatos High School Prentiss Brown Auditorium, 20 High School Court. The first and third concerts take place at the First United Methodist Church of Los Gatos just across the street from the high school.
The first concert, on Oct. 17, features Boston Brass, a multi-faceted quintet whose repertoire includes Baroque, opera, pop and jazz. Members also sing together in barbershop harmonies.
Next is the Ronnie Kole Trio on Jan. 16. A noted Louisiana musician and co-founder of the New Orleans Jazz Festival, Kole has performed before the Pope and five U.S. presidents. His trio of piano, percussion and bass performs jazz music as well as big band, contemporary and light classics.
Third in the lineup is a historical Civil War program on Feb. 20 researched, arranged, written and sung by Robert Trentham. Trentham will also talk about his ancestors, who fought on both sides in the epic war.
The final show of the season is Erie Mills on May 7. A professor at San Jose State University, Mills is a coloratura soprano and has performed operatic roles throughout the world. During the concert, Mills will sing a varied program of art songs and opera arias.
Season tickets are $40 for adults, $35 for senior citizens, $10 for students and $85 for the family plan, which admits two adults and any number of students.
