    The Dance of Spring

Nine-year-old Naomi Barshi and her father, Immanuel, celebrate May Day by dancing around a Maypole and braiding its multi-colored streamers in Saratogan Betty Peck's backyard. The May 1 holiday is an ancient European festival celebrating fertility and the growing abundance of spring.
