Crystal glazes on porcelain vessels at Aegis Gallery

Now through May 24, the featured exhibit at Aegis Gallery is "Crystals on Porcelain," a collection of new works by local ceramic artist William Sawhill. A retired chemical engineer, Sawhill uses his background in chemistry to experiment with different crystalline glazes for his porcelain vessels. His colorful glazes are fired at high temperatures and become extremely hard, nontoxic and dishwasher-safe.

A reception for the artist takes place May 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. Aegis Gallery is located at 14531 Big Basin Way, Unit 2.
