Welding award presented

Donald C. Bertossa of Saratoga has received the George E. Willis Award from the American Welding Society.

Bertossa graduated in metallurgical engineering from the University of Illinois. He is retired from the General Electric Co. nuclear energy division, where he held the positions of principal engineer and program manager. He is chairman of the U. S. delegation of the International Institute of Welding.

Aguilar recognized by Kaiser Cement

Robert Aguilar of Saratoga, who was employed for half a century at Kaiser Cement in Cupertino, was honored at a retirement dinner April 19 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose. Aguilar was hired in 1946. He has held several positions in the company and in 1985 was named a quality control analyst.

He was president of the Cement, Lime and Gypsum Local 100 for 19 years and vice president of the Northern California district of the union for 14 years.
