The Saratoga Symphony will perform at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19 at the First United Methodist Church of Los Gatos, 19 High School Ct.
Works to be played are: Doran's Overture:1964; Svendsen's Romance in C; Saint-Sains' Piano Concerto No. 2; and Mozart's Symphony No. 31, the Paris Symphony.
John David Thompson, who is working on his master's degree in piano performance at San Jose State University, is guest pianist.
Jason Klein, music director of the Saratoga Symphony, is also music director of the South Valley Symphony and the Youth Orchestra of Southern Alameda County. Each summer, Dr. Klein is associate conductor of the Oregon Coast Music Festival.
The Saratoga Symphony gives volunteer musicians from around the Bay Area the opportunity to play in a symphony orchestra. The orchestra, based at West Valley College, brings both familiar and rarely performed works to the community's cultural life and provides local artists a forum to showcase their talents.
