Sheriff's Report
Found Property--April 27, 9:05 p.m. on Carol Lane. The reporting party said he found a set of keys in his driveway around noon that day. He tried to find the owner by calling a number on the key fob, but no one called him back, so he turned the keys over to the sheriff's office. An officer tried to call Gold's Gym in Campbell to reference the identification number and got no answer.
Residential Burglary--April 27, 3:30 p.m. on Mellowood Drive. Sometime between November 2000 and April 27, 2001, unknown suspects pried the lock off the garage door of a vacant house and took antiques and collectibles. Numerous items are still in the house.
Property for Destruction (Ammo)--April 27, 1:10 p.m. on Saratoga Avenue. The reporting party brought 25 boxes, each which contained 50 .45-caliber cartridges, to the sheriff's office, and asked sheriff's deputies to destroy them. The boxes were booked into evidence for destruction.
Vandalism--April 27, 12:20 p.m. on Obrad Drive. The reporting party said he noticed catsup all over the front of his neighbor's house that morning. He said his neighbors were out of town and wouldn't return for a month. The officer took a photo of the front of the house and submitted the photo as evidence at the substation. There are no suspects, and no children are currently at the house.
Vandalism--April 26, 7:20 p.m. on Quito Road. The victim came home and saw a small hole in the outer pane of the double-paned window in front of the house. The victim found a BB between the window and screen. The spacing between the holes in the window and screen showed that the unknown suspect(s) had shot the BB from a moving car. The crime occurred the previous day.
Annoying Phone Calls--April 26, 2 p.m. on Canyon View Drive. The suspect, who was a customer at the automotive repair business that the victim retired from 10 years ago, has been calling the victim and his wife. The suspect, who has a long history of mental illness, is angry about her husband having to fix a car the victim worked on 10 years ago. At first, the suspect called the victim and his wife in person. Then she left messages on the couple's answering machine.
Commercial Burglary (Nitrous Cylinder)--April 24, 2 p.m. on Village Court. Sometime the night before, an unknown suspect(s) broke into a locked storage shed by the dentist office the victim runs and stole a large cylinder of nitrous oxide and a regulator, valued at $500. The suspect(s) pried open the hinges on the doors and did about $400 of damage to the shed. During the theft, the alarm on the shed failed to go off.
Forgery/Grand Theft/Embezzlement--April 23, 3:10 p.m. on Big Basin Way. A co-owner of a restaurant said the suspect was hired as an accountant from Jan. 1, 2001 to Feb. 15, 2001. The current accountant noticed missing and questionable checks when reconciling the February bank statement and told the co-owner. When they told the bank fraud unit, the bank revealed two checks the suspect cashed for $5,000. The suspect left his keys at the business on Feb. 13, and no employee has seen him or heard from him since.
Vandalism--April 23, 11:15 a.m. on Vista Arroyo Court. When the victim got in his car and started to back it out of his driveway, he heard a clink each time his tires rotated. He stopped to look at the tires and found a three-inch screw in each left tire. When he checked the driveway, he found other screws, and recovered six screws altogether. There are no suspects.
