David Knapp
Former Saratoga resident David John Knapp died suddenly of a heart attack in his Salt Lake City, Utah, home on March 29. He was 36.
Born in San Jose in 1963, Knapp grew up in Saratoga. A graduate of Foothill Elementary School, Redwood Middle School and Monta Vista High School, Knapp worked as a chef. He also held management positions at the Carmichael Elks Club, MGM Grand resort in Reno, the Sun Valley Idaho Lodge and the Alta Utah Resort. He was an avid skier, snowboarder and outdoorsman.
Survivors include parents Ron and Patricia Knapp of Saratoga; children Amber, Mike and Chris Knapp of Seattle, Ore., and Ashley Knapp of S. Dakota; also brother Steve Knapp and sister Diane Archer.
Memorial services have been held, with interment in Ashland, Ore., where his parents will move this summer. Donations may be made to the Saratoga Federated Church.
Erma Sells
Former Saratogan Erma Eunice Hatcher Sells died on April 18, in San Jose. She was 88.
Born on Feb. 12, 1912, in Sesser, Ill., Sells was a homemaker. She was active in the Saratoga Federated Church and West Valley Newcomers, and enjoyed playing bridge.
Sells' husband of 72 years, Ben Sells, preceded her in death. Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law James and Joyce Sells of Bolivar, Mo., and Samuel and Shirley Sells of Saratoga; daughter and son-in-law Mary Lou and Robert Curran of Saratoga; 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services have been held. Interment was at Madronia Cemetery in Saratoga.
