Women in Golf Women of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate in Women in Golf Day, May 16, at three popular local golf courses--Summitpointe Golf Club in Milpitas, Aptos Seascape, and the Santa Clara Golf and Tennis Club. There will be free golf lessons, demonstrations, discussions of golf, tournaments, and putting contests at the three courses. Women in Golf Day is designed to introduce golf to women in a "fun, non-intimidating atmosphere." Pre-registration is recommended and golf clubs will be available for use. VanDerveer speaks Stanford University wo-men's basketball coach Tara VanDerveer will be the guest speaker when the Silicon Valley Forum of the Commonwealth Club of California hosts a special program on May 19 at the Hilton Hotel in downtown San Jose. The cost is $7 for members of the Commonwealth Club and $10 for nonmembers.
