Kids can get a taste of college

Children entering the sixth through ninth grades in the fall are invited to sample the college experience this summer with West Valley College's "College for Kids" program. Among the enrichment classes offered are astronomy, biology, mathematical skills, kids and money, games for the mind, sports, TV/video, Spanish, speech and debate and swimming.

Rec. Dept. seeks happy campers

The Saratoga Recreation Department is accepting applications for a wide variety of outdoor programs for children.

Among the camps are weekly sessions of Backyard Scientists and Nature for 5- to 7-year-olds; Camp Adventure for 6- to 8-year-olds; Beach Adventure for 8- to 12-year olds; Outdoor Adventure for 8- to 12-year-olds.

AAUW officers installed at brunch

The Los Gatos-Saratoga branch of the American Association of University Women holds its monthly general meeting on May 16, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the Rinconada Hills Community Room, located at 100 Avenida Del Sol, Los Gatos. Brunch is included.

The club is also installing new officers for the 1998-99 year: Carryl Walker, president; Allyson Lageschulte, financial vice president; Margaret McCartney and Betty Mc-Guire, first vice presidents, programs; Jennifer Madden and Mary Wagner, second vice presidents, membership; and Barbara Oggerino, recording secretary.

Beth David names new director

Melissa Rogoway has been appointed the new director of education for Congregation Beth David in Saratoga and will begin her position on July 1.

A graduate of San Francisco State University, Rogoway is completing her master's degree in education at the University of Judaism in Los Angeles. She has 14 years of expreience in teaching Judaica at synagogues.
