    Obituary

    John Clark

Saratoga resident John Charles Clark died at his home April 6 of a sudden heart attack. He was 59.

Born June 10, 1942, in Minneapolis, Minn., Clark earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1965 from the University of Minnesota, where he belonged to Phi Gamma Delta fraternity.

For a time, Clark served in the U.S. Army, although his career was in the computer software industry. For more than 37 years, he worked for IBM, Oracle and Informix. At the time of his death, Clark was manager of business intelligence database product marketing for IBM in Menlo Park.

Clark's family describes him as a "tennis fanatic." He loved playing singles and doubles matches at Brookside and Courtside clubs over the years and especially enjoyed tournaments, which he often won. He was also an avid traveler and wine collector and enjoyed driving his restored 1936 Ford.

Survivors include wife Barbara Clark of Saratoga; son James Clark of South Riding, Va.; and daughter Julianne Davis of San Ramon.

    Memorial services have been held.
