Sheriff's Report
Forgery/Petty Theft--May 6, 11:15 a.m. on Hill Avenue. The unknown suspect(s) took an unknown amount of checks from the victim's mother's house after she died in November 1999. The victim didn't know anyone had stolen checks until his and his wife's bank statement arrived this month, and showed that the suspect(s) had forged two checks. When the couple checked their account, they discovered the suspect(s) had cashed three more checks.
Residential Burglary--May 4, 4:02 p.m. on Big Basin Way. The unknown suspect(s) entered the victim's home through two French doors, which had been secured with a deadbolt, on the patio balcony. The suspect(s) stole many personal items, including two Thomas Kincaid paintings valued at $1,800 and $2,500, and left through the front door. No one saw or heard the suspect(s).
Reckless Driving--May 2, 6:25 p.m. on Miller Avenue and Ashton Court. The suspect drove fast from Miller Avenue onto Ashton Court, almost hitting the witness's car. Many children playing on Ashton were put in jeopardy by the suspect's driving.
Terrorist Threats--May 2, 8 a.m. on Mendelsohn Lane. The suspect told a contractor for Allstate Insurance he wasn't happy with the way the company was handling his claim and that he felt like walking into the company office, "going postal" and shooting everyone dead. The involved parties felt threatened and feared for their lives. Deputies arrested the suspect and booked him in the main jail.
Theft of Identity and Attempt to Obtain Credit Card--May 2, 7:30 a.m. on Marion Road. The victim told the sheriff's office that an unknown person or persons had stolen her identity and tried to obtain an American Express card in her name. A fraud investigator at American Express became suspicious when the address on the credit card application differed from existing records, and sent the victim a letter. The victim also had all her credit information stolen in a burglary.
