    All-star Football

    Football's finest high school seniors will be back on the field this summer when the 27th annual Silicon Valley Youth Classic Charlie Wedemeyer High School All-Star Football Game returns to the Santa Clara Valley.

    The tradition will continue when the game, hosted by the Rotary Club of Almaden Valley, is played on July 25, 7:30 p.m., but the location will be brand new. For the first time, the game will be played at the Independence High School stadium in East San Jose.

    Saratoga Auction

    The 21st annual Saratoga High Athletic Booster Club Fund-Raising Auction will be held May 20, 2­8 p.m., at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga.

    Tickets are priced at $85 and are available from Booster Club board members or at the Saratoga school office. The ticket price includes hors d'oeuvres, beverages, gourmet dinner and the opportunity to bid in the one-of-a-kind auction.

    Auction items include hard-to-get tickets to sporting events, private winery events, golf outings, exotic trips, sports memorabilia and much more.

    Proceeds from the events help fund boys and girls sports at Saratoga High and Redwood Middle School.

    Adult Sports

    The Saratoga Recreation Department is holding registration for adult softball and men's 35-and-over basketball.

    Openings remain for the men's D softball league season that begins June 4. Games will be played Mondays and Wednesdays at El Quito Park.

    Men's 35-and-over basketball league play will begin May 19, and the cost is $549 per team. Games are played on Saturday mornings at West Valley Community College.

    AYSO Soccer

    The Saratoga AYSO Region 27 will hold registration for players ages 5 and up interested in playing in the fall season on June 2 1­4 p.m. at Redwood Middle School in Saratoga.

    The registration fee is $75 per child until June 2. After that date, the registration fee will be $100 and players will be placed on a waiting list. Scholarships are available.

    Players must provide a birth certificate.
