Hakone Gardens hosts tea event
Hakone Gardens, at 21000 Big Basin Way in the Saratoga foothills, invites the public to attend its Dai Chakai, or Grand Tea Gathering. This is the first event of its kind to be held in the Bay Area and features several tea ceremonies conducted by practitioners from different tea schools at different locations in the gardens.
Several sittings will be available at each location throughout the day. A small donation is requested from those participants wishing to partake in a bowl of Japanese green tea and a tea sweet.
The Grand Tea Gathering is a benefit for the Hakone Gardens tea program. For more information, call Stewart Lenox at 831.462.1876 or email lenoxlaw@cruzio.com. The Hakone Foundation office can also be contacted at 408.741.4994.

Feminist art on display locally
Nacera Guerin, a Saratoga resident and a student at West Valley College, is exhibiting a wall-sized painting titled Woman, The Liberty this month at the West Valley College Art Gallery, located inside the Campus Center at 14000 Fruitvale Ave. in Saratoga.
According to Guerin, this is a historically significant painting, because it addresses the question: Do women truly have liberty not only in the United States, but also internationally?
