City bestows kudos on Wolf and Swan

At its meeting on May 9, the City Council honored Saratoga Community Preschool Director, Dr. Marianne Swan, and outgoing Finance Commissioner, Gary Wolf, for their community work.

Swan, who is also a former Parks and Recreation Commissioner, will receive the city's commendation at an appreciation luncheon on May 31. The organizer of the celebration, Nancy Felch, asks that people interested in attending may contact her at 408.741.0880 for further details.

The council commended and thanked Wolf, who had served on the commission since 1997. Wolf helped develop a number of the city's fiscal policies, according to the city's proclamation.

It's not too late for students to go to Japan

The deadline for applications to the Muko-Shi exchange program in Japan has been extended to May 30. Four high school students from Muko-Shi, near Kyoto, will be paired with four students from Saratoga for the Saratoga Sister City Organization program, which begins July 24. Public input sought for new traffic plan

The staff in the Community Development Department is updating the city's Circulation and Scenic Highway Plan for the first time since 1983. The document acts as the city's long-range traffic management plan. The update is intended to assess existing traffic conditions and to develop goals and policies to address changing conditions.

The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to present the plan and solicit input on May 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting and participate in the document's development. Subsequent public hearings will be scheduled before the City Council to consider adopting the updated Circulation and Scenic Highway Plan. Contact the Community Development Department at 408. 868.1222 with questions.
