Saratoga NewsObituaryClyde Johnson Clyde Clemont Johnson, born in 1905 in Doraville, N. Y., died May 8 of natural causes. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1929 with a degree in civil engineering. He worked as a professional engineer in Michigan, Ohio and California until he was 85, when he retired to attend to his wife, May, who was ill. He was involved in the construction of the old Paseo de Saratoga shopping center and was disappointed when it was demolished to make way for the new center, said family members. Serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, he reached the rank of Lt. Commander. After moving to California in 1972, he enjoyed the opportunities of full employment at an older age and the warm weather, said family members. He is remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.Survivors include one son, Robert S. Johnson of Saratoga, two grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was an active member of Union Church of Cupertino, where a funeral service was held. Internment was at Madronia Cemetery.
