Mary Bourne Brush
Mary Bourne Brush, 79, a former Saratogan, died May 10 at Community Hospital of Monterey.
She had lived in Pacific Grove for 10 years and before that lived in Saratoga for 25 years. She was a former member of the San Jose Junior League and was a member of St. Mary's-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church in Pacific Grove and active in the church guild and thrift shop. She was a volunteer at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Born March 25, 1917 in Philadelphia, she was a graduate of Wheelock College in Boston.
She is survived by her sons David G. Brush of Woodstock, N. Y.; Dr. Stephen B. Brush of Davis; Dr. Edwin G. Brush, Jr. of The Hague, Netherlands, and three grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Pacific Grove and her ashes were scattered at sea.
Dick Van Dalen
Dick Van Dalen, 59, died May 5 of a heart attack.
Born in Amsterdam, Holland, he was a Saratoga resident. He worked as a supervisor at Stangenes Industries, Inc. Among his hobbies, he liked to grow roses and he enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Marty Van Dalen of Saratoga; his daughter, Connie Haulter-Van Dalen of Saratoga and son-in-law Todd Haulter; and his son, Mike Van Dalen of Saratoga.
A service was held at Sacred Heart Church in Saratoga.
