    Simitian commends Hakone Foundation

On May 16, Santa Clara County Supervisor Joe Simitian presented a resolution of commendation to the Hakone Foundation, on behalf of the Board of Supervisors. The event took place at Saratoga's Hakone Gardens, and foundation board members Charles (Chuck) Thompson, Bruce Parkinson, Elaine Salter, Marge Bunyard and Donald Korn attended, as did the foundation's executive director Lon Saavedra, who gave Simitian a tour of the gardens. The foundation was commended for its financial management of the gardens, and for its efforts to preserve the national treasure Saratoga has in its backyard."We were flattered and the trustees were exuberant to receive such effusive commendation at a critical time in Hakone's history," Saavedra said.
