    Vikings power to victory

    Home runs by Adam Montarbo, Donovan Minero and David Dudley sparked the West Valley Community College baseball team to a 13-12, 10-inning win over Merced to send the Vikings to the Northern California Regionals.

    Minero had four hits to knock in three runs in the win over Merced, and Montarbo drove in three runs with three hits.

    Dudley drove in four runs for the Vikings, and Jo Jo Quinata doubled home a pair. Gary Ferraro added three hits.

    Valley lost 16-10 to the College of the Sequoias in the first round of the regionals, despite a four-hit day by Minero.

    Minero doubled, tripled and singled twice to drive home five runs for the Vikings. Quinata and Dudley had two hits apiece, and Ferraro knocked in two runs.

    Javier Andueza was stuck with the pitching loss, dropping his record to 10-4.

    The Vikings slipped to 30-16 for the year.
