How does your garden grow?

Dale Helder plants impatiens as part of the preparation for the vegetable and herb garden being installed at the Adult Care Center. Two garden terraces are being donated to the center by the De Anza Kiwanis Club and are scheduled to be built in front of the center later this month, according to Mary Richards, the center's administrative director. The potted flowers will be used to decorate the gardens. The Kiwanians are also donating supplies for gopher netting, to prevent the critters from making off with any produce, and material for small walls around the garden beds. Richards said care center participants not only will be able to take home items grown in the garden but will be able to tend to their plants as well. "We consider it a therapeutic garden," she said.
