Saratoga NewsNews BriefsStudents arrested for acid incident Two Saratoga high school students were arrested for allegedly putting hydrochloric acid in their instructor's bottled water. The incident occurred on May 14 when the two students were in science class. Allegedly, the two students somehow managed to get the teacher's bottle to the back of the classroom, where they inserted the acid, according to the sheriff's department. No one was hurt in the incident. When the teacher drank the water, he immediately knew there was something wrong and didn't swallow. Both students, ages 17 and 18, were arrested and booked at the Westside Substation. Since it is an ongoing investigation, Sgt. Robert Linderman, who is assiged to the case, was unable to comment on whether or not the teacher has decided to press charges. One of the students, a senior at the high school, went unpunished by the school, and was allowed to attend his senior ball on May 17. Employee charged with stealing A former employee of the International Coffee Roasting Company is out on bail after he allegedly stole $10,000 from the cash register over a period of several months. Owner Victor Amezcua was unavailable for comment, but he reported to the Sheriff's Department that the register began coming up short last November. After Amezcua installed a video camera above the register on May 1, he caught the suspect removing cash twice on the same day. Two days later, he witnessed the same action and pressed charges. An employee who wished to remain anonymous said that she was surprised when she learned that her fellow employee, who worked there three years, had been arrested. Massage business under scrutiny The city is scheduled to look into revoking the permit of a massage establishment/ spa located at 12361 Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road at 10 a.m., June 4 in the Council Chambers. Council members will hear testimony from residents relating to whether the business, Relaxation Time, should be allowed to stay open as a massage establishment in Saratoga. The Council Chambers are located at 13777 Fruitvale Ave.
