    Sheriff's Report

    Under the Influence, Drug Paraphernalia--May 18, 3:50 p.m. on Cox Avenue. An officer was monitoring the traffic on the intersection of Cox and Paseo Presada and saw a black, two-door car travel west on Cox. The car then turned onto southbound Paseo Presada without stopping at the stop sign. The officer found that the suspect had a glass base pipe in his right front pocket and that he showed the symptoms of being under the influence of an illegal narcotic. The officer took him to the main jail for booking.

    Burglary, Drunk in Public--May 17, 6:28 p.m. on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. The suspect entered the grocery store at 6:20 p.m. with $3.04. He removed $660.84 worth of alcohol from the store in a shopping cart without attempting to pay for it. One of the items was a 750-milliliter bottle of Cabo Wabo Tequila worth $134.97. Store security stopped the suspect and made a citizen's arrest. A sheriff's deputy arrived and saw that the suspect's balance was unsteady. He smelled strongly of alcohol, and his eyes were red and watery. He also slurred words and couldn't care for himself. The sheriff's office booked him into jail.

    Drunk in Public--May 16, 2:15 p.m. on Congress Springs Road. An officer was monitoring traffic on Congress Springs Road at Springer Road when he saw an adult white male walking on the southbound shoulder. The officer saw that although the shoulder was level, the subject was unsteady on his feet and needed to lean against a mile marker for balance. Upon contact, the officer smelled alcohol and saw that the subject had red, watery eyes. The subject's speech was slurred. His blood alcohol level turned out to be .189. The officer arrested him for public drunkenness, as well as for having an outstanding warrant for the same crime.

    Petty Theft, Shoplifting--May 16, 1:30 p.m. on Saratoga-Sunnyvale Road. The suspect entered a grocery store and walked around for a few minutes. She stopped at the magazine rack, picked up a magazine and left the store with it without attempting to pay. Loss prevention officers stopped her 10 feet outside the store. The suspect admitted to stealing food, including a $7.99 package of Stouffer's frozen chicken and noodles. The officers escorted her to the store office and called the sheriff's office to report the incident. The sheriff's office cited and released the suspect at the scene.

    Marijuana and Phony Driver's License--May 13, 10:40 a.m. on Saratoga Avenue. The suspect drove southbound on Saratoga Avenue at Cox Avenue with less than one ounce of marijuana in his car. While investigating for further drugs or narcotics, the officer found that the suspect also possessed a fraudulent California driver's license. The officer cited and released him at the scene.
