Nicholas Kawaguchi, 5, introduces his father, Dean, to a silkworm during the annual insect fair held on May 20, at the Youth Science Institute's Nature Center in Sanborn-Skyline County Park in Saratoga. Guest lecturers and YSI staff discussed the complex world of arthropods and let young visitors see--and often touch--crawly critters such as millipedes, cockroaches, tarantulas, caterpillars and beetles. The fair, which lasted from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., also included arts and crafts activities, face-painting, educational exhibits and food.
