The seasons are changing inside Gallery Saratoga

Throughout the month of June, Gallery Saratoga's featured artist is watercolorist Daryl Joseph. His exhibition, titled Seasons, features representational, multiseasonal landscapes that are full of color and energy.

The public is invited to an artist's reception on June 18, from 1 to 5 p.m. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Gallery Saratoga is at 14531 Big Basin Way, Unit 3. For more information, call 408.867.0458.

Local artists participate in art festival

Four Saratoga residents and members of Allied Artists West, Kay Duffy, Mary Ann Henderson, Judith Marshall and Vivian Taggart, will participate in the 6th annual Alliance of Visual Artists (AVA) South Bay Fine Arts Festival, which takes place on June 3 and 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Triton Museum of Art, 1505 Warburton Ave. in Santa Clara. The event also includes music, food, drinks and children's activities.

Duffy, who specializes in watercolors, paints colorful landscapes and nonobjective paintings that reflect her love of life. She is also an art instructor at Hakone Gardens and elsewhere. Henderson uses representational pastels and oils to create her trademark landscapes and portraits. Marshall uses textures, collages and multiple paint layers to create a distinctive look. Taggart's plein air paintings in impressionist styles celebrate the beauty of California's landscape, as well as sites Taggart visited during her European travels.

    Dog walking a fundraiser

All dogs are invited to bring their humans with them on June 10, to participate in the 14th annual 5K/10K Walk-a-Dog-a-Thon, held at Vasona Lake County Park in Los Gatos. Walkers should arrive at 8:30 a.m. Fees are $10 in advance, or $15 on walk day.

The event is a fundraiser for the Lions' Silicon Valley Center for the Blind, which provides a variety of resources and support for people affected by blindness or sight impairments. The nonprofit center is supported by Lions Clubs in Santa Clara County. For more information about the Walk-a-Dog-a-Thon, call 408.295.4016.
