    Watercolor artist exhibits paintings at Aegis Gallery

    Throughout June, Aegis Gallery's featured artist is Bay Area watercolorist Bonnie Epstein. Her paintings offer various views of the city of Jerusalem. A public reception for the artist takes place June 8 from 6 to 9 p.m. Regular hours for the gallery, at 14531 Big Basin Way, Unit 2, are Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

    Church youth group holds one day flea market

    The youth group at Saratoga's Prince of Peace Lutheran Church holds a flea market June 5 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. to offset costs of its upcoming trip to Mexico, where two dozen of its teenage members will help build homes for underprivileged families. The flea market, at 12770 Saratoga Ave. offers a wide variety of treasures at reasonable prices. Donations of additional items are also welcome. For more information, call 253-7167.

    Adult Care Center hosts dessert party

    The Saratoga Adult Care Center hosts its annual theater and dessert event on June 3 to raise funds for the various programs it offers to local seniors. The party begins at the Center, 19655 Allendale Ave., with gourmet desserts, coffee and other refreshments.

    Those attending will then proceed to the Saratoga Civic Theater, 13777 Fruitvale Ave., for a performance of the musical State Fair . Tickets for the dessert buffet and show are $18. For information, call 868-1262.

    Trail Day project benefits Castle Rock State Park

    On June 5--National Trails Day--local Any Mountain stores and the Bay Area-based, nonprofit Trail Center are collaborating with the American Hiking Society to work on trails in county and state parks and open space preserves. The closest project is in Saratoga's Castle Rock State Park. The western portion of Castle Rock Trail will be moved to a new location and the existing eroded trails will be restored to a more natural state. Volunteers should meet in the Partridge Farm area of the park by 8:30 a.m.
