Los Gatos seniors to model in Terraces' fashion showProceeds benefit P.E.O. charitiesDoris Prince may not have aspirations as a professional model, but she does enjoy showing off classic fashions. She is one of many seniors participating in the Spring Tea and Fashion Show on June 18 from 2 to 4 p.m., sponsored by The Terraces of Los Gatos. "I've modeled quite a bit in the past," Prince says. "I enjoy performing for various organizations." Prince, along with other seniors and Terraces staff, will wear fashions from the Nearly New Shop. Located in Sunnyvale, Nearly New is owned and managed by P.E.O., a philanthropic and educational women's organization. "Proceeds from the sales of the clothes will benefit the P.E.O. charities," says Pamela Bancroft, director of community relations at The Terraces, a continuing-care retirement community in Los Gatos. "There are about 43 P.E.O. chapters that contribute time and donations to the shop," says Wendy Tracy, manager of Nearly New. Prince, a Terraces resident and 50-year member of the organization, intends to model sportswear to reflect her active lifestyle and interest in swimming, golf and skiing. "The fashion show will be fun," says Terraces resident Phyllis Harding. "I haven't modeled before, but I think local seniors will like seeing their peers showing these fashions." The Terraces arranged a bus excursion to the clothing store so the participants could choose their outfits for the show. Harding, 77, plans to show off a flamboyant outfit. As an avid traveler, she is also interested in clothing for her upcoming tour of Canada later this year. The Spring Tea and Fashion Show, held in the Glenn Rouse Assembly Hall, will be complemented by refreshments including scones and finger sandwiches. For more information or to make reservations, contact Stacy Clamage at 356-1006, ext. 122. The show is open to the public, and reservations are requested by June 11. The Terraces is located at 800 Blossom Hill Road, Los Gatos.
