Southwest YMCA's Volunteer of the Year
Roger Mason of the Sweeney, Mason and Wilson law firm in Los Gatos has been selected as Southwest YMCA's Volunteer of the Year. He and other volunteers were honored at an annual dinner May 20.
Mason has been a volunteer at the YMCA since 1991, serving on the YMCA Board of Managers and as board chairman from 1994-96. He volunteers as a youth basketball coach and as a judge for the YMCA Youth and Government Model Legislature.
CMTheater offers summer conservatory
San Jose Children's Musical Theater presents a summer Conservatory of Performing Arts for young people 6 to 18 years old. Session I takes place from June 17 through July 9 at Presentation High School in San Jose and session II runs from July 15 through August 2 at Saratoga Elementary School, 14592 Oak St.
Creative classes such as voice, dancing, acting. and theater arts will be taught by instructors who have backgrounds in various aspects of the performing arts.
The Junior Talents program for ages 6 to 8 introduces the young child to performing arts through creative dramatics, music and dance. Rising Stars, ages 9 through 18, create their own schedules by choosing from various performing arts areas. The Mainstage Conservatory for ages 13 to 18 is designed for students who want to develop multiple performing arts skills.
Classes are held Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuition is $265 for each three-week session. Registration is by mail; for more information, call 288-5437.
