Sheriff's Report
Auto Burglary--May 28, 8:20 p.m. on Saratoga Sunnyvale Road. On May 24 between 11 and 11:15 a.m., the victim parked behind a restaurant to pick up food. He went inside the restaurant after he locked the car doors. When he returned, he saw the passenger window had been forced down and the door unlocked. The only item the unknown suspect(s) had taken was his cell phone.
Busted Car Door--May 26, 5 p.m. on Marilla Drive. The victim parked his car in front of his home on May 23 at 8 p.m. and returned the next morning at 7:30 to find the door on the driver's side damaged. He couldn't open the door and found that someone had dented the exterior lock mechanism. Nothing was missing, and the victim believes no entry was made. No suspects were seen or heard.
Mega Mailbox Smash--May 25, 10 p.m. on Michaels Drive. The unknown suspect smashed the victim's $250 mailbox with such force that it pulled the pole from the ground. There are no suspects.
Assault and Battery--May 25, 9:45 p.m. on Ten Oak Way at Junipero Avenue. The subject, who was possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs, had attacked the reporting party and was tampering with his cars. The reporting party told the officer that his neighbor assaulted him and his friend. Both subjects were injured. The officer arrested the suspect for assault and battery and booked him at the main jail.
Theft of Identity--May 25, 10:45 a.m. on Blauer Drive. The suspect got hold of the victims' credit card information, changed the address on their accounts and had new credit cards sent to him. He charged over $7,000 on the new account.
Attempted Alcohol Theft--May 24, 5:25 p.m. on Saratoga Sunnyvale Road. Grocery store security officers saw the suspect enter the store, walk to the liquor area, pocket a $21.99, 1.75-liter bottle of Parrot Bay rum and leave the store without paying for it. The security officers detained him outside the store for shoplifting.
Diamond-Related Burglary--May 24, 5 p.m. on Big Basin Way. At about 2:30 that day, an elderly, well-groomed male who smelled like alcohol and cigarettes entered the jewelry store and told the owner he wanted to buy his wife a diamond. During their encounter, the suspect stole a $4,000 1-carat yellow diamond in a white box from a display case. The victim isn't sure how he stole it, since he'd been keeping an eye on him.
Grand Theft of Power Tools--May 24, 2 p.m. on Peach Hill at Piedmont. Unknown suspects entered a construction site at night and took $9,990 worth of hand-held power tools, including a $200 Porter Cable belt sander. They placed the tools in two wheelbarrows, which they used to wheel them away down a fire road, and left no physical evidence.
Surrendered Ammo--May 24, 12:25 p.m. on Saratoga at Big Basin Way. The reporting party came to the sheriff's office that day to turn in her deceased husband's firearms. She was about to move and wanted them destroyed.
Criminal Threats/Disturbing the Peace: Offensive Words--May 24, 1:30 p.m. on Woodside Drive. The suspect called the victim several times and threatened her with great bodily harm. The suspect admitted that she made the calls and had threatened the victim. The officer arrested her and booked her at the main jail.
Destruction of Ammo--May 24, 9:45 a.m. on Saratoga Avenue. The respondent turned in a .22-caliber rifle at the substation for destruction.
Taking Advantage of Lost Wallet--May 22, 9:30 p.m. on Scotland Avenue. The suspect found the victim's lost wallet and used his credit card without his permission, charging more than $1,200.
Vandalism--May 22, 8 p.m. on Bellgrove Circle and Saratoga Avenue. An unknown suspect vandalized the victim's car while it was parked on Bellgrove Circle.
Garage Burglary--May 22, 10:10 a.m. on Vine Yard. The unknown person(s) pried open the garage door and took 10 boxes of records and knickknacks valued at $5,000.
Bulletin Board Burning Accompanied by Vandalism--May 22, 8 a.m. on Titus Street. Unknown persons tried to start two bulletin boards on fire at the school and left minimal damage. The bulletin boards were in different locations. The same person(s) used what appeared to be white shoe polish to write on the playground blacktop. Five photos were taken of the damage. There are no suspects.
Harassing Messages via Phone Line, but not over the Phone--May 21, 9:25 a.m. on Leutar Court. The day before, an unknown suspect sent harassing instant messages to the victim over the Internet.
Failed Alarm System at Commercial Establishment--May 21, 9:15 a.m. on Cox Avenue. The evening before at 7 p.m., the reporting party left the building locked and secured. The next day at 9 a.m., the reporting party saw the front door had been pried open and that two computers, one of them being a Dell Inspiron laptop valued at $1,000 that was in a black case, were missing. The alarm failed to go off during the incident.
Mysterious Disappearance of Diamond Earrings--May 21, 8:45 a.m. on Lacey Avenue. During the week of March 7, the week she had new house cleaners over, the victim noticed that her two diamond earrings, valued at $7,000, were missing. There are no leads.
