High school graduations just around the corner
Saratoga High School will hold commencement ceremonies for 281 graduating seniors on June 15, at 4:30 p.m. on the Benny Pierce Football Field. The ceremony is expected to last a little over one hour and will feature all student speakers.
Parking and seating at the ceremony is first come, first served; there are no tickets. SHS expects about 2,000 family members and friends to attend.
There will be an opportunity for the public to preview the Grad Night set on graduation day from 2 to 5 p.m.

The ceremony is expected to last about one hour and will feature several student speakers. Parking is first come, first served. Guests need a ticket--available from graduating seniors--to attend the ceremony.
There will be an opportunity for the public to preview the Grad Night set for about one hour after the ceremony.
Saratogans' census response high
Saratoga had the highest response rate to the census mail-in surveys in Santa Clara County. Eighty-two percent of residents responded to the survey.
Sixty-five percent of the households in America have returned their census forms; 68 percent of households in California have responded and 72 percent of households in the county have responded. Los Gatos had a response rate of 75 percent.
City is seeking applicants for oversight group
The city is trying to fill five vacancies on a citizens' oversight committee for Measure N, the bond measure to finance the Saratoga Community Library's expansion and renovation. The committee members will ensure that the $15 million bond measure is used the way voters intended.
The city welcomes applications for the seats from interested citizens of Saratoga. The deadline for filing applications is June 14, at 5 p.m. Contact the city clerk for applications and information at 408.868.1269, or at 13777 Fruitvale Ave. in Saratoga.
