    Passagio Chorale will perform

Passagio Chorale, a South Bay-based group of singers ranging in age from 7 to 18, will perform on June 11, at 10:30 a.m. at Westhope Presbyterian Church, 12850 Saratoga Ave. in Saratoga. Conducted by Dauri Podenski Shippey, who holds a master's degree in music from the Juilliard School, the youthful group is now entering its second performance season.

The word passagio, which roughly translated means a rite of passage, is an apt description of the chorale; its focus is the development of a high degree of excellence, discipline and music education in its members.

Passagio Chorale's members, who participate in mentoring programs with professional musicians, sing traditional, classic, sacred and contemporary pieces, along with new and innovative compositions. In November 1999, the group released its first CD, titled In Heavenly Peace: Christmas Songs for Soprano, Harp and Children's Voices.

For more information about Passagio Chorale, its upcoming concert, or its CD, call 408.927.6857, or visit www.passagiochorale.org on the Internet.
