    Saratoga Soccer

The 2000 soccer season is coming up soon, and the Saratoga AYSO Region 27 soccer league is holding signups for players, coaches, referees and board members.

Early registration is June 3, 9:30-1 p.m., when the registration fee will be discounted to $75 per player. Players who did not participate in the Saratoga AYSO program last year must provide a passport or notarized copy of their birth certificate.

Parents may also register players for the Major League Soccer Camps scheduled for Aug. 7-11 and Aug. 21-25, 9 a.m.-noon, at Congress Springs Park. The camps are recommended for all players in the under-6 to under-14 programs. The cost is $100 per child for each camp ($150 for one child for both camps). Each camper receives a T-shirt.

For more information, contact the league's website at www.saratoga-AYSO.org or call 408.257.2976.

    Youth Football

Signups for the 2000 Los Gatos Pop Warner football season are now being accepted.

Pop Warner offers programs for boys and girls ages 7-15 from Los Gatos and Saratoga. Football teams are grouped according to weight and age, and cheer squads are grouped by age.

The organization will add a new instructional, non-competitive entry-level division this season for boys ages 7-9 weighing between 45-85 pounds.

Practice for all teams begins in August.

For more information, check the Los Gatos Pop Warner website at www.lgpw.com or call the hotline at 408.920.2204.

    South Bay Soccer

The South Bay Youth Soccer League will hold signups for the 2000 season on June 17, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the River Glen Little League Park, corner of Bird and Pine in San Jose, and 3-5 p.m. at the Lincoln High School soccer field, corner of Dana and Hester.

The league is looking for players, but also for parents to get involved. The league will sponsor coaching clinics to help those new to the game learn the sport.

South Bay has also scheduled a Family Fun Day on June 10 at the Campbell Community Center, and the league will host a soccer tournament on June 10-11.

    For more information, call 408.248-8516.
