The home team, the Mount Eden Vaulting Club, coached by Emma Drinker, hosted the Mother's Day Spring Classic vaulting competition at Garrod Farms in Saratoga on May 13-14.

The competition drew 230 entrants in toto, and some teams traveled from as far away as Colorado and Oregon. The ages of vaulters that competed in the Classic varied from 4 up to 24, and there were even a few "miscellaneous over-thirties," according to Drinker.

Events varied from individual to eight-person team events with compulsory and freestyle routines, and all events were set to music. The Spring Classic was one selection trial for the world championships, which will be held in Mannheim, Germany, in August.
