Lloyd, Moore return to Brookside - as coachesIt wasn't that long ago that Rob Lloyd and Shannon Moore were in the water winning medals and ribbons as members of the Brookside Swim Team. And now Lloyd and Moore have returned to Brookside. They're not in the water but on the pool deck. And they're not winning medals and ribbons but helping the members of the Brookside Waves swim team improve their skills so that they might become medal winners. Lloyd and Moore are the Brookside coaches for the 1997 summer swim season that's already under way at the swimming facility on Cox Avenue in Saratoga. Lloyd returns to Brookside, where he starred as a youngster, as the head coach. He has just recently completed his freshman year at UC-Berkeley, where he was a member of the men's water polo team. Lloyd was a member of the swimming and water polo teams at Bellarmine Prep, graduating in 1996. The Saratoga resident started swimming for Brookside as a 5-year-old and set club records in the backstroke, breaststroke and relays. He was named the Brookside Swimmer of the Year three times. Moore returns to Brookside as the squad's assistant coach. She is graduating from Saratoga High School this week. Moore was a three-sport star for the Falcons, competing in water polo, swimming and soccer. She, too, began her swimming career a 5-year-old at Brookside, setting club records for relays in the 11-12, 13-14 and 15-18 age divisions. Moore was the Brookside Swimmer of the Year twice. Boys and girls ages 18 and under swim for the Waves. The Brookside squad is one of six teams from the South Bay that competes in the Junipero Serra Swim League.
