Robbers detain the victims in two incidents

Cops say crimes are not related

By Michelle Alaimo

The Sheriff's Department is investigating two robberies in which the victims were tied or locked up. The crimes happened just two days apart, but Sgt. Robert Linderman of the Saratoga Substation says the incidents are unrelated.

In the first, which took place on May 24 at 10:45 a.m., two suspects, wearing nylon stockings over their heads, picked the lock of a home at 15120 Quito Road. Once inside, they tied up Hong Xuan Ngo and Philip Duy Tran, covered them with a bedsheet and demanded money.

The suspects got away with $500 in cash and a vehicle, officials at the substation said. One of the victims was able to free himself and call the Sheriff's Department.

In the second incident, which took place on May 26 at 10:13 a.m. at 20754 Joan Court, suspects forced their way into a house and locked the housekeeper in a closet while they ransacked the home.

The suspects took television and stereo equipment, then used the car keys to take both the housekeeper's and homeowner's vehicles, according to sheriffs.

After the suspects were gone, the housekeeper was able to break out of the closet and call police. Linderman said the housekeeper's car was later found in downtown San Jose. The victims were identified as Zhi Fen Huang and Mei Yen Chen.

The Sheriff's Department has no suspects at this time.
