Saratoga NewsSports BriefsRun for the Kids Competitors will take off on a 8K run and two-mile walk in the "Run for the Kids" charity event set for June 14 in downtown San Jose. The cost is $20 ($10 for kids under 12), and race-day registration begins at 7 a.m. at the corner of North First Street and Rio Robles. Proceeds from the event benefit All Stars Helping Kids, Children's Discovery Museum, Children's Services of Valley Medical Center and Children's Shelter of Santa Clara County. The 8K run begins at 8:30 a.m. with the walk set for an 8:35 a.m. start. Youth runs begin at 9:30 a.m. For more information, call 800/866-8608. Danskin Triathlon The annual Danskin Women's Triathlon series once again makes a local stop when top athletes compete in the rugged event in San Jose on June 21-22. Each race consists of a .75-kilometer (half-mile) swim, a 20-kilometer (12.4 miles) bike ride, and a 5K (3.1 miles) run. The entry fee is $30. Holy City Race They'll be running through the Santa Cruz Mountains on June 15 when the annual Holy City Race returns to the hills above Los Gatos. Red Devils at home The Silicon Valley Red Devils, a member of the USISL women's division, will be home for a pair of games this weekend at De Anza Community College in Cupertino. The Red Devils will host the Denver Diamonds on June 14 and the Sacramento Storm on June 15 in a pair of 5 p.m. games.
