National award winner
Clement Lam, who attends St. Joseph of Cupertino School, has been named an award winner in mathematics by the United States Achievement Academy and he will appear in the official yearbook. He is the son of Joseph and Hanna Lam of Saratoga.
UCSB Dean's List
Amie Nicole Thuener of Saratoga was selected for Dean's List honors at UC-Santa Barbara, where she is graduating magna cum laude with a major in philosophy and business economics. She is the daughter of Chester Thuener and Joyce Malia.
Phi Beta Kappa
Nicole Lisa Kozera of Saratoga was among 50 Pomona College students elected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa, the national honor society.
Language award
Melanie Hancock of Saratoga, a sophomore at Woodside Priory School in Portola Valley, has received a medal from the American Association of Teachers of French for her placement in the Northern California Division of the National French Exam. Melanie placed 10th among 148 contestants.
Summa cum laude
Peter Maloney, Lynbrook '92, graduated summa cum laude from the University of Notre Dame on May 19 with a bachelor's degree in business administration. He studied accounting and will begin working for Arthur Andersen's San Jose office as a part of the audit staff in September. Maloney's parents, Chip and Weedgie Maloney, reside in Saratoga.
Duke Dean's List
Lisa Barabara Guglielmi has been named to the dean's list at Duke University, Durham, N. C., for the spring semester. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Guglielmi of Saratoga.
Freeman earns degree
Daniel Freeman has graduated cum laude from Claremont McKenna College in Claremont. He earned a bachelor of arts degree as a literature-French major. He is the son of Deborah and Douglas Freeman of Saratoga.
Artwork chosen
Eric Fischer, son of Marguerita Fischer of Saratoga, had three of his artworks accepted for the student art show at Euphrat Gallery: a painting, a ceramic figurine and a bronze.
The show continues through June 21 at the gallery on the De Anza College campus in Cupertino.
Woodside Priory graduate
Nathan Williams of Saratoga was among 29 young men and women graduating from Woodside Priory School May 25. Williams is an active member of the National Honor Society and editor of the school newspaper.
Pomona College graduate
Saratoga resident James Bernald received a bachelor of arts degree in politics during Pomona College's 103rd commencement on May 12 in Claremont.
